It was a year of erratic weather but in the end, as always, it was the autumn weather conditions that mattered. Below average temperatures in late spring delayed the start of ripening. Careful tending in the vineyards proved to be more important than ever. In August fortunately we were spared the heavy hailstorms in the Bolzano/Bozen area. Warm days and cool nights in late August and early September played their part and encouraged the formation of aromas in the grapes. Since autumn was at its best, we were able to harvest healthy and fully ripened grapes.
