Our mindset can be summarised in just a few words: we make red wine! Because it is ideally suited to our soils and our climate. Because less is more, we concentrate on the two South Tyrol varieties Vernatsch and Lagrein. These autochthonous grape varieties feel most at home where we ourselves are at home. The result is six wines we are proud of and that almost perfectly embody our terroir. Each wine has its own personality yet all are built on dedication, passion and the determination to continue to improve
“It's exciting to make a wine and think forward to what it will be like in five years' time.”
“We don't want to do a bit of everything. Our aim is to do what we do really well.”

Vernatsch and Lagrein find excellent climate conditions here. Warm, sunny days in the Bolzano valley are accompanied by cool nights. This ensures the fresh, fruity aromas and elegance we so love in our wines. A constant light wind makes sure that our grapes enjoy the best of health. We seek to perfect the potential that the grape varieties and natural conditions offer us. We do this by applying our experience, our intuition and a great deal of passion.
Climate is one thing, soil is another. The Pfannenstielhof has the enviable good fortune of being able to grow vines on two completely different soil types. The winery marks the boundary between the soils rich in moraine debris to the north and alluvial soils to the south. St. Magdalener, the elegant red wine with an alpine twist, is produced on the moraine debris soils towards Renon. The alluvial soils in the direction of Isarco provide the best conditions for the powerful red wine variety, Lagrein.
In the cellar we complete what was allowed to develop outside in the vineyard. This literally produces a common thread that runs through our wines, despite any differences there may be in vintages. You must be able to taste and appreciate the fact that a wine comes from the Pfannenstielhof.
"We can thank the wind for healthy, fully ripened grapes."
"Our wine-growing region is very special. And simply perfect for Vernatsch and Lagrein varieties."
